Our clinical service, the Occupational Lung Disease service, is part of the Lung Division at the Royal Brompton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, a hospital specialising in lung and heart diseases. We have been here for over 40 years, making us the busiest and longest-established clinic of this type in Europe.
Our clinic is for people who have (or may have):
- a lung condition that has been caused by their work,
- a lung condition that is making it difficult to work or find work,
- breathing difficulties related to the wider environment outside work.
We employ a variety of tests to investigate signs and symptoms of occupational lung disease, such as:
- Holistic assessments by our consultants and clinical nurse specialist, in our weekly NHS clinic
- Lung function tests including spirometry and FeNO measurement
- Peak flow monitoring
- Skin prick testing for allergens
- Occupational challenge testing
- Specific IgE testing
- Imaging (CT scans, chest x-rays)
